Salt spray and pool chemicals leave marks on glass and can wear down hardware over time.

Rinse glass panels and spigots with fresh water every few weeks. For streaks, use a soft cloth with warm soapy water or a vinegar mix, then dry it off.

Check gate hinges and latches each month. The gate should close and latch from any position — if it doesn't, fix it straight away, as it's a safety item.

On powder-coated aluminium, skip harsh or scratchy cleaners. Mild soap and a soft brush is all you need.

Trim plants and move furniture away from the fence so nothing becomes a climbing aid.
